Frequently Asked Questions
I was surprised to see an additional fee added to each ticket I purchased online today. Can you tell me what this fee is for? Is there a way to avoid this fee?
I'm sorry that you were taken by surprise by the fee. We've tried to alert folks to the change on our website prior to ticket purchasing. The additional fee covers the expense to the PAC for our new box office system allowing folks to select their seats, print tickets at home and numerous other advancements that aid us in serving the community better. It is, I am afraid, a necessary evil. Currently, the fee can be avoided by purchasing by phone, coming to purchase your tickets here at the PAC box office in advance or at the door the night of the performance.
How can I purchase a DVD of a PAC performance?
Many events that happen on the PAC stage are recorded by HCECTV. You can contact them about purchasing a DVD at 270.769.8855. For information on DVDs of other events please contact the producer for that event. In addition, it should be noted that many productions at the PAC restrict the use of recording devices due to stringent copyright infringement laws. When in doubt, please taalk to aPAC staff member at the performance in question.
Are tickets refundable if I can't make it to an event?
There are no refunds for PAC events but your unused tickets may be redeemed for a PAC Gift Certificate of equal value to be put toward a future ticket purchase or exchanged for tickets to another PAC event.
For refunds for any other events at the PAC stage, you will need to contact that user group directly to learn of their refund policy.
My child has a great voice and loves to perform, what does the PAC offer in terms of instruction and lessons?
Parents who are searching for art, theatre, dance or music instructors for their children often contact the PAC. Please check out the following suggestions from PAC Director, Bart Lovins:
ACTING
Hardin County Playhouse has an acting camp every summer and its director, Bo Cecil bocecil@hotmail.com, also does private lessons I believe. They also frequently use students in their productions so ask about upcoming opportunities.
Youth Theatre of Hardin County does a production at the PAC every summer. They have winter workshops to prepare students for the auditions for each summer's production in January, February & March. Contact Bill or Betty Marsee for more information (270) 765-5421, www.youthteatrehardincounty.com. Please note students must be in the sixth grade or higher and reside in Hardin County to participate.
Missoula Children's Theatre comes to the PAC every year for a weeklong residency. Auditions are open to any student 1st-8th grade. Please sign up for our email list in order to be notified of auditions next year. www.mctinc.org
PAC Pro-Am is a self produced musical using local professional and amateur performers at the PAC each fall. We also frequently need students for these productions and again, encourage you to sign up on our email list to learn of upcoming opportunities.
DANCE
There are three dance schools in the area. This is unheard of in a community of our size. I would recommend any of the three:
Allegro Dance Theatre is located in Radcliff and performs their spring recital at the PAC annually as well as a holiday production of the ballet, Cinderella each year. Allegro is the only dance studio that also offers a musical theatre class for acting and singing. (270) 352-1333, www.allegrodancetheatre.com
Dance Center of Elizabethtown performs their spring recital at the PAC as well as a holiday production of the ballet, the Nutcracker each year. It is the oldest and most established studio in the area. (270) 765-5464, www.dancecentreelizabethtown.com
Center Stage is located in Elizabethtown and performs their spring recital at the PAC annually as well as a holiday dance program each year. Center Stage is the only studio that has a competing dance team. (270) 769-5505
PIANO/VOICE
Check with the music teacher at your school for references. I would also recommend Ann Case (270) 737-6217 if she is not accepting new students she may be able to refer you to someone else as well.
STRINGS/INSTRUMENT INSTRUCTION
Music and Art Center of Cultural Learning. Victor Collins, svcollins@bbtel.com
operates this instructional center in Elizabethtown. (270) 234-0007.
What do you have to do to keep up with the facility?
In addition to myself, the PAC has a staff of two front office staff, a technical director and a custodian. All of the staff is cross trained so that we don't all have to be here at the same time. We also have a corps of over two dozen volunteer students and adults that assist with everything from building sets to ushering to stuffing envelopes. The PAC is a year round facility so even during the summer we have activities occurring. Once one season is up and running, plans are under way for the next season.
Does John Hardin High School or Hardin County Schools make any profits off of the facility?
JHHS and the PAC are two separate entities that just happen to share the same roof. I am the administrator in charge of the PAC and Alvin Garrison is the administrator in charge of JHHS. We have separate facilities and separate staffs as well. The revenue produced by the PAC is channeled back into programming and facility improvements and repairs that help us better serve HCS students.
What do schools and people in general have to do to rent the facility?
Our online rental application is available at our website www.thepac.net. Once submitted, the application is reviewed by the PAC staff and upon approval, the renter is sent a contract to sign. The renter must then return the contract along with payment and proof of insurance to secure use of the facility. The process is the same for school organizations but of course payment and proof of insurance are not required.
Do you feel that the PAC is located in a great spot for all Hardin County Schools?
Geography is the major stumbling block to the PAC being able to serve ALL Hardin County Schools. But the PAC had to be built somewhere and being at JHHS makes our space centrally located in the county. By the way, many folks are under the misconception that we serve primarily JHHS students. This could not be further from the truth. We actually serve over 20,000 students annually across a nine county region. JHHS makes up a very small percentage of that number. In addition, the PAC has created several programs to help extend the reach of our facility:
• PAC To Go: Professional theatre companies bring shows right to local schools.
• Arts 4 All: HCS employees contribute monthly to a fund used to supplement ticket and transportation costs for schools to attend programming at the PAC.
• PAC Play Dough: Students participating in PAC events receive $1 off coupons that can be applied toward the cost of attending PAC events.
What all is the PAC used for?
The PAC's mission is to complement student learning and participation in performing arts and provide quality performing arts experiences for the community at large. In addition to our season of PAC produced programming, the PAC is available to use for any HCS organization free of charge and available for rental to others in the community.
How often is the PAC used?
The PAC is in use 20-25 days per month on average.
Can you please clarify the available seating? The chart link provided on the ticketing page does not describe each titled section so that we can try and determine where we would like seating prior to ticket purchase.
