Lincoln's Legacy: A Musical Tribute

Audience Survey Responses
Neither rain nor sleet nor… well, you get the idea. Although our attendance was down for the concert, those that came seem to have had a good time. Here is a summary of the audience survey responses:
- Twenty-four attendees thought the program was excellent and suggested no improvements with many commenting that they came away with an increased knowledge about Lincoln and his love of music. Several commented that they enjoyed the “sing-a-long” portions of the evening. I’m so glad, it was a long evening and I hoped some audience participation would be appreciated.
- Twelve attendees had issues with sound with many commenting that they had difficulty hearing the singers. We have worked over the years to improve the sound quality of the facility with our new shell being the latest addition toward that purpose. This was only our third time using the shell and our first time to use it with both instrumentalists AND singers simultaneously. Finding a balance between the two was troublesome but improved greatly as the show went on.
- Two attendees had issues with the dinner portion of the evening. On the other hand, many commented on how good the food was and the amount of food available.
- One attendee commented about clarifying the difference between PAC Partners and PAC Builders. PAC Partners support programming and PAC Builders support the improvement of the physical structure.
- One attendee commented about the need for a better dining facility. The PAC makes use of the JHHS commons area for our “dinner & show” events. It is a beautiful open space with magnificent hanging sculptures but the “spider” tables are not the most comfortable - especially for our older patrons. We made an effort to provide handicapped accessible dining tables with chairs instead of stools but perhaps should provide more in the future.
- One attendee commented that the program was too long. I couldn’t agree more. I would have loved to have shared even more – there was such a wealth of material. We had originally intended the concert to be only 90 minutes long without an intermission but after consulting all the artists involved we decided to dive in. Saying so, I should note that we did cut a couple of intended songs including “Dixie” and cut a good 30 minutes of narration.
- One attendee wished that we had brought all the attending Lincoln’s onstage. I agree. That would’ve been great. I wish I had thought of that.
- Some commented that the shell improved the sound but did not make a good movie screen. I agree. This was an experiment on my part and although I do think it added to the evening, an actual screen would’ve been better and is probably what we will do in the future.
- One attendee wished that we could’ve provided better weather. We’ll try to do better next time.
Here are the individual comments from the surveys that were turned in.
